Local Company To Celebrate Its 100th Auction
Release Date: Wed 02 Sep 2009 Back to main news
Auction House Norfolk & North Suffolk is to host the Groups 100th auction just two years after after the network of property auctioneers was created.
Norwich-based Auction House UK was launched in July 2007 and since then has welcomed 21 licensees to the brand, providing a coverage area of around half of England and Wales.
The company’s 100th auction will take place at the Sunningdale Suite of the De Vere Dunston Hall Hotel in Norwich on 9th September 2009, starting at 11am.
Founding director Roger Lake said: “The rapid growth of Auction House has been a phenomenal success story, despite some of the toughest market conditions in living memory. It seems only appropriate that we should be celebrating our centennial sale in the region where it all began.”
Auction House will hold over 70 sales this year involving over one and a half thousand lots, from as far afield as the Scottish borders to Sussex and West Wales to East Anglia. The company’s success rate for sales is around 80%, compared to a national average for provincial auctioneers of less than 68%.
The wide appeal of the Auction House brand is demonstrated by its latest two regional licence holders – a Berkshire estate agent with no previous experience in auctioneering, and a Yorkshire company which has been carrying out agriculture and livestock auctions for the past 140 years.
Roger Lake added: “It’s our firm belief that properties sell more successfully and for higher prices when professionally marketed and auctioned locally, rather than at some impersonal event many miles away. And our sales figures to date prove that we’re right!”
