End of terraced Bungalow in need of structural repair
An end of terrace bungalow situated in this village between Workington and Whitehaven within easy reach of the Lake District National Park and the Solway coast. The property, an end one of four, was built in the 1960's of concrete block cavity walls under a concrete tiled pitched roof. It was common practice at that time for concrete slab floors to be laid on sulphate bearing hardcore derived from local colliery spoil. Reaction between the sulphates and the concrete has caused heave to the slab and outward distortion of the external walls, leaving the property in need of structural repair. The property originally had a hall, living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom but is now basically a shell measuring approx. 8.8m x 6.6m externally as the internal walls have all been removed and much of the floor dug out.
